 History repeated again for another day as Bankura again witness the mass gathering of more than 3lakhs people at Gandheswari river bed on 31.10.2010.
Mamata’s rally has drawn overwhelming response from the people of Bankura. Today’s rally once again proves the charisma of Mamata, the crowed puller. The Banks of Satighat was flooded with people from all over the district.

 In a meeting of Honb'l Chief Minister Mr. Budhadeb Bhattacharya at Satighat of Bankura on 30th October 2010 nearly 3Lakhs pleople gathered. Instead there was controversy regarding the filling of gandheswari river bed with earth and sand since the last week, such a huge gathering was not expected. Allmost all the roads of the Bankura town was crowded with pleople came from interior villages of the district. Sound of 'Dhamsa Madal' and "Dhak" was rolling through the streets all along the day. According to a Geological Survey of India (GSI) report, Mukutmonipur and its adjoining areas have a huge deposition of uranium. Mukutmonipur, a well-known tourist destination in Bankura, has the potential to emerge as a nuclear power reserve.
A five-member GSI team has been exploring prospects of uranium deposits at different locations in Khatra sub-division of Bankura over the past one and a half months. The GSI team from Hyderabad visited the district after being tipped off by the Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL).

Again this year students of Bankura has scored their best within the state of West Bengal starting from Madhyamik examination to IIT.
 Swarnabho Chattaraj of Bankura Zilla School, who secured the first position in WBJEE (Engineering and Technology), had scored 453 in the HS exams. He ranked 173 in the IIT entrance examination and wants to study Physics Honours Engineering either from Kharagpur or Kanpur IIT. His success formula as stated “My entire focus in the last two years was on JEE, so I didn’t aim at getting a very high score in HS. Enrolling with a coaching centre helped me a lot but in the end what matters is one’s own preparation.” Bankura has ranked first with an overall pass percentage of 74.8 in JEE,
